The Journal, Drug Designing: Open Access publishes the highest quality scientific articles amalgamating broad range of fields including molecular modeling, clinical research and drug discovery and delivery.

Successful therapeutic outcomes have been achieved through innovative formulation designs that provide efficient drug delivery. This has made it possible to overcome some difficult challenges attributable to the nature of the pathological condition, the body physiology or inherent properties of the therapeutic agent. Vesicular carriers (VCs) are innovative drug delivery devices developed by formulation scientists, taking after nature’s mechanisms of cellular material transport system and survival.

It is widely known that the existence of intracellular (and extra-cellular) bodies or vesicles help in the transport of materials into or out of the living cell. By this, they perform the function of supplying necessary materials needed for cell development, growth, and survival. They also contribute to the cell’s defense by exporting (engulfing) unwanted and waste materials out of the cell. Formulation scientists have exploited this natural cell mechanism in designing VCs for enhanced delivery of therapeutic and cosmetic agents, using characteristic biodegradable polymers. While some of the polymers are naturally occurring, others have been synthesized. Due to their special physicochemical characteristics, they form nano- or micro-sized carriers (drug containers) which have revolutionized drug delivery for therapy of many challenging or neglected diseases. In addition, applications of such novel therapeutic nanostructures have enabled of new uses of many drugs.
